Your First Guitar Lesson in Enfield: Before You Book
Your first guitar lesson with Andrew starts with your experience and the music you want to play. He teaches children from age 6 and adults, including complete beginners and returning players. This guide brings together the practical details for booking a lesson in Enfield Town or asking about a home visit.
Who will teach you?
Andrew Pitsillides, also known as Andy, teaches one-to-one guitar lessons. He has ten years of teaching experience, over ten years performing in bands and a Grade 8 RSL qualification. His main styles are rock, blues and pop.
Lessons are shaped around the student. You can learn for enjoyment or work towards Trinity Rock & Pop or RSL guitar exams; exams are optional.

Choose the studio or ask about a home visit
Andrew’s home studio is in Enfield Town, about a 10-minute walk from Enfield Town station. There is on-street parking on the road opposite. Check local signs for any restrictions or charges, and arrange your visit with Andrew before travelling.
He also travels to students across North London, including Enfield, Winchmore Hill, Southgate and Palmers Green. Home visits cost an additional £10 within a reasonable distance. Include your area in the enquiry so Andrew can confirm the arrangements before you book.
Choose a lesson length and check the total price
Lessons are £30 for 30 minutes or £55 for an hour, with no VAT added. Sessions of 45 minutes are also available; ask Andrew for that price. Home visits cost an additional £10 within a reasonable distance; confirm your area and the total before booking.
When asking about lesson length, mention the student’s age, experience and goals. Payment is by bank transfer. Andrew asks for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange a lesson.
What happens in a beginner lesson?
The first lesson focuses on confidence, enjoyment and making music. Beginner teaching covers how to hold the guitar, change chords and keep time, then develops strumming and songs at the student’s pace.
You do not need to be preparing for an exam to get started. If you are returning after a break, tell Andrew what you have played before and what you would like to work on next.
Lessons for adults and returning players
Before you buy a guitar or bring your child
Having a guitar at home helps you practise between lessons. If you have not bought one yet, ask Andrew for advice before spending money and check what to bring to the first lesson.
Children’s lessons start from age 6. A parent is welcome to sit in if that helps the child feel comfortable.
Keep the lesson going at home
Lessons include practice support such as backing tracks, progress notes, homework, chord and fretboard diagrams, and tablature. These give you something to return to between sessions.
For your enquiry, include who the lessons are for, their playing experience, the music they enjoy and whether you prefer the Enfield studio or a home visit. Add any questions about lesson length, equipment or travel.
